Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

VILM works without an account. We do not collect any personal information unless you explicitly enable certain features:

• Camera & Microphone: Used only to capture photos and videos within the app. Media is processed locally on your device.
• Location Data: Only collected if you manually enable the GPS Location setting in VILM. When enabled, GPS coordinates are embedded into your photo and video metadata locally. We do not transmit this data to any server.
• Photos Library: Used only to save your creations to your device or import existing photos. We do not access your gallery for any other purpose.
• Anonymous User ID: A random identifier (UUID) is generated on first launch to manage your subscription, referral status, and anonymous usage statistics (see section 6). It is not linked to your name, email, or any real-world identity.

2. Photos and Videos

All photos and videos captured with VILM are stored locally on your device and/or in your Photos library based on your settings. We do not upload, access, or share your media. Your creations belong entirely to you.

Exported videos may include standard file metadata (such as creation date and, if enabled by you, GPS location). VILM does not embed any hidden tracking identifier in your exports.

3. On-Device Processing and Machine Learning

VILM uses on-device technologies, including Metal shaders, Core Image, Vision, and machine learning frameworks, to apply visual effects to your photos and videos in real time. All processing happens locally on your device.

Some effects may use on-device face detection, scene analysis, or other computer-vision features to enhance filters or overlays. We do not upload your facial geometry, biometric data, or any image or video content to external servers. No face data or visual content is collected, stored, or shared by us.

4. In-App Purchases and Subscriptions

VILM Pro subscriptions are processed through Apple's App Store. We do not store your payment information. All billing and transaction data is handled securely by Apple. For more information, please refer to Apple's Privacy Policy.

To unlock VILM Pro and verify your subscription status, we use RevenueCat, a subscription management service. RevenueCat receives your purchase history and an anonymous user ID, never your name, email, or payment details. For more information, please refer to RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.

5. Referral Program

VILM offers an optional referral program that rewards you with free VILM Pro time when friends you invite subscribe. If you participate, we store on our servers:

• Your anonymous user ID and a unique, randomly generated referral code (e.g. ARNO7X).
• The referral relationship (who invited whom) and the number of qualified referrals.
• The subscription status of referred users (whether a qualifying purchase occurred), never their identity.

Referral links (vilm.app/r/…) do not use cookies, device fingerprinting, or any probabilistic tracking. Attribution only happens when the invited person explicitly confirms the referral inside the app. Sharing your link is always your choice, via the standard iOS share sheet.

6. Analytics and Anonymous Usage Statistics

We do not use third-party analytics, tracking, or advertising SDKs. We do not use your data for advertising and we never share it with data brokers.

Anonymous usage statistics: on first launch, VILM asks a short onboarding questionnaire (what you plan to use the app for, how you heard about it). While you use the app, we also count, locally on your device, how many photos and videos you capture and which looks (presets) you apply. These counters and your questionnaire answers are sent to our servers linked only to your anonymous installation ID. They are stored on Supabase in the European Union (Ireland) and used solely to understand how VILM is used and to improve the product. Your photos and videos themselves are never collected, these statistics are never sold, and they are never used for advertising or cross-app tracking.

7. Data Sharing and Processors

We do not sell, rent, or trade your data. Period. We only work with the following service providers, strictly limited to operating the app:

• Apple: payment processing for subscriptions.
• RevenueCat: subscription status management (see section 4).
• Supabase: secure database hosting for referral, subscription, survey, founder campaign, and anonymous usage statistics records, hosted in the European Union (Ireland).

8. Data Retention

Your photos, videos, and settings stay on your device and are removed when you delete the app. Referral, subscription, survey, founder campaign, and usage statistics records tied to your anonymous ID are kept only while the relevant program is active or while your subscription is valid, and are deleted upon request.

9. Children's Privacy

VILM is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately.

10. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights under the GDPR (Europe) or CCPA (California), including the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. Locally stored data can be removed by deleting the app. For referral, subscription, or founder campaign records stored on our servers, email us at hello@vilm.app and we will delete them.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
